At K.O. Productions, we’re proud to contribute to Moonshot Digital Culture, an initiative aimed at strengthening the digital culture field in the Netherlands. As research lead on two of Moonshot’s key reports, founder and producer Siuli Ko investigates the structural challenges facing Dutch immersive and interactive media, but also its potentials.
The first study evaluates the Pilot Voucher Scheme for Cultural Immersive Productions, a one-time fund launched in 2023 with support from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. Designed to improve the visibility and infrastructure for immersive media – including VR, AR, MR, 360° film and interactive installations – the pilot offered support to makers, producers, and institutions across the country. The insights from this research directly informed a new, long-term distribution scheme, which launched in late 2024 under the Immerse/Interact program from the Netherlands Filmfund and Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie.
The second part of the study consisted of a deeper dive into the distribution of immersive productions, and proposes new perspectives and offers the sector concrete guidance to move beyond the current distribution impasse. Interviews with sector representatives (creators, producers, festivals, institutions) have helped shape and inform the perspectives presented in this document. The report also looks at international best practices. The results can assist in improving the visibility of the digital culture sector and the infrastructure needed for distribution.
The research report was presented at the Netherlands Film Festival 2025 on Wednesday the 1st of October. Read the full report here.
