During my time at Cinekid, one of the largest projects I ever commissioned, alongside co-commissioners STRP, Southbank Centre and Migrations, was ‘Treehugger: Wawona’. This interactive installation created by Marshmallow Laser Feast visualises the powerful inner systems of a sequoia tree, and shows the circulation of water from its deep roots all the way up to its leaves. Through VR, the viewer is able to experience this process of life from inside and outside the tree, in a beautiful, immersive and almost hypnotic way.
Treehugger was given the Tribeca Storyscapes Award in 2017 and the Best VR Film Prize at the VR Arles Festival in 2018.
