Young visitors begin their journey with a leap, from the wooden play ship Storm into the immersive world of Plons! at the Maritime Museum Rotterdam. In this magical underwater experience, children are invited to embody sea creatures, crawl through ocean-inspired architecture, and discover the maritime world from a unique, below-the-surface perspective. Across three distinct zones – the open ocean, coastal waters, and deep sea – they explore urgent themes such as pollution, climate change, and energy transition in an inspiring, hands-on way.
This immersive projection room forms the heart of the exhibition and is eveloped by Design I/O, where visitors of all ages can reflect, imagine, and feel a sense of wonder about our ocean’s future. Plons! sparks curiosity, empathy, and action, while honoring the legacy of the beloved Rotterdam classic Professor Plons.
